"I Don't Know Anybody Else" (1990) was one of the many hit songs from the Dreamland album by Italo-House act Black Box. Whereas their first big hit "Ride on Time" features an unauthorized vocal sample of classic disco singer Loleatta Holloway, most of their hits actually featured the voice of Martha Wash, likely best known to many before this point as one of the Weather Girls of "It's Raining Men" fame.

I give Wash particular credit because Black Box did not go out of their way to do so. Many may know the story of how Martha Wash sued the record label of C&C Music Factory because she was not featured in the music video for the smash hit that she sang, "Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)", what many don't know is that this isn't the first time this happened, as the exact same shekanery was employed by Black Box when they were promoting Dreamland. (I'm simplifying the story as well, the lengths that record industry people went to to try and screw over Martha Wash is totally unreal.)

Of course, much like "Gonna Make You Sweat", Wash's vocals are the most powerful presence on this track, which is a real feat given a song that has that Italo-house piano hook and that incredible bassline. (Our guitarist mimes the bassline for the chorus as they called it "a great riff.") The chorus in particular features some sensational high notes from Wash that make this still an awesome jam today.

Anyway we turned it into some bizarro-Meshuggah monstrosity. Hope you like it.
